I do remember, as a little kid, having recorded the TV mini-series on Beta. And that scaring the shit out of me, mainly because of how weird it was and a lot of it having to do with how scary Carol Channing was to me. But as scary as it was, I remember watching it over and over again... I need to watch that again...

Weekend of Labor

This weekend was a weekend of labor rather than my Labor Day weekend. Some views of my weekend...

Then my labor... Beaver Projects in Copenhagen, where I'm having a 2 person show in October has a flagpole outside of the gallery. So it was suggested to make a flag, my first attempt. And although there was a bit of crinkling on the left hand corner, I thought it came out alright....








I was also able to vary the widths of the stitching while I was sewing... which helped in making the image line work look a little bit more like my line work.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2008, the Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) will host re:FORM, an art auction and cocktail benefit at Cheim & Read, New York. re:FORM represents the second installment in a groundbreaking partnership between the art world and the drug policy reform movement, following our first successful event in 2005. DPA will take this opportunity to honor three dear friends of the organization: Donald Baechler, Dr. Mathilde Krim, and Fred Tomaselli.

Steven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer of National Forest are having their first solo show in Los Angeles in four years at Subliminal Projects Gallery. Somehow, We All Seem Connected will feature handmade multiples and sculptures exploring human connectivity and humorous points of similarity, through our perception of reality, experience, and imagination. "Make something from Nothing"

This past weekend, I went to go see Beautiful Losers and if its screening in your town, you should definitely watch it. Its really an inspiring film. A lot of these artists that are in the film are the people that made me think that I could make the kind of art that I do and actually be an "artist." I know that kind of sounds weird, but not sure exactly how to explain it without going into a long winded speech about it. The film and why so many of these artists make work speaks to a lot of the same reasons why I make art. Its really inspiring and especially to see Margaret Kilgallen, one of my heroes and biggest inspirations.

Beautiful Losers from the Sidetrack Films website

Beautiful Losers is a feature documentary film celebrating the independent and D.I.Y. spirit that unified a loose-knit group of American artists who emerged from the underground youth subcultures of skateboarding, graffiti, punk rock and hip-hop. This documentary tells the story of how a group of outsiders with little or no formal training and almost no conception or interest of the inner workings of the art world ended up having an incredible impact on the worlds of art, fashion, music, film and pop culture.

I can't help myself...

I'm swear to you that I'm not going to constantly be putting up photos of my dog. But, I can't help myself. Over the weekend, I helped a friend with a photo shoot for Bust Magazine. Its an article on local foods Thanksgiving, so therefore we had a faux Thanksgiving in August. Anna Wolf shot the beautiful photos and my dog and her friend's dog were perfect models. By the way, the other dog, her name is Meow and she too has a blog.
