I don't think this is the official video to this new Kings of Convenience song, Mrs. Cold. But I plan to be at the beach this weekend, and this is setting me in the mood.

Mixed Signals

Fiber Arts Magazine was kind enough to do an interview of me and my recent work of Nautical Flags. Its in this month's issue, unfortunately its not online to read, but I'm a big supporter of buying magazines so....

(one correction in the article: they asked what got me started in stitching with art, the work of artist Simone Shubuck (not Simon Schubert) is what inspired me.)

Goosebumps

Maurice Sendak talks about the film and working with Spike Jonze. What I would've given to work on this film or just to be a fly on the wall. It gives me goosebumps of inspiration every time...

Cover up

I recently did an illustration for a book review in the Boston Globe. The books were about the Woodstock festival and totally coincidental to my recent post about Woodstock, so I was definitely in the free love, hippie mood.

These were a lot of fun to do and Jane Martin, the art director, was really great to work with.

After a couple of revisions to do some "cover up," we were able to come up with the final piece. Well, see for yourself...

Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at.

Back when I was a kid, we recorded the made-for-TV version of Alice in Wonderland (on BETA!!). I used to watch it alllll the time, even though it scared the SHIT out of me. Especially Carol Channing as the White Queen.... yikes!

Now, Tim Burton is coming out with his version of Alice in Wonderland. And Johnny Depp looks just as creepishly scary as Carol Channing did. I imagine this will give children nightmares for days. I can not WAIT!

Mr. Fox, You're Fantastic!

Roald Dahl has been one of my favorite authors, not only as a kid but even as an adult (have you read his adult fiction? "My Uncle Oswald" is highly recommended). Combine the geniusness of both Roald Dahl and Wes Anderson and you've got my brain exploding.

The first 3 screen images of Wes Anderson's stop motion Fantastic Mr. Fox have been posted. The film is due out in November. Mr. Fox (that means you Mr. Wes Anderson), I will wait patiently.

thanks scout!

so freakin' lovely...

I love finding really great artwork/illustrations by female artists. Clare Owens really knows how to put the pencil/pen to paper.

Hazards

You know a good package when you see one...
I remember seeing this and thinking how awesome it is. At first I thought the lettering was done by Sam Weber, but alas no, it is the great work of Carson Ellis.

Amazing design done by Mario Hugo.

Free Love

I'm no hippie... a lot of people I know definitely has some inner hippie in them and even though I make fun of them its only because I'm jealous that I'm not.

But, if I could transport myself in time I would go back to to 1969 and to Woodstock. After seeing these photos by Burk Uzzle, I feel like I'm right there.

Burk Uzzle's Show "Woodstock 40th Anniversary" is up at Laurence Miller Gallery in New York ti August 7th.

"Do your own thing, wherever you have to do it and whenever you want. Drop out. Leave society as you have known it. Leave it utterly. Blow the mind of every straight person you can reach. Turn them on, if not to drugs, then to beauty, love, honesty, fun."-Time Magazine, July 1967

itsah etsy!

You know how when you set out to do something, it either takes you forever to start it and sometimes you forget... And then there are those times when you start it and decide to redo it over and over again... Well that's what happened with me and Etsy. I love Etsy, I can live in the world of Etsy yet my wallet would not survive in it...

Anyway, I finally got my etsy site up. Click HERE! Please check it out. I plan to update it with more "one-of-a-kind" objects like my bears. Maybe I'll even put up some artwork, haven't decided on that yet...

Also, please be on the look out for my new zine coming out SOON!

This is my Home...

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about a little project that I was working on. The cardboard trees, and the cardboard homes... Here's a couple more "behind-the-scenes" photos from what I was working on.

(modeling is sooooo hard)

Soon, these will be compiled into a new zine and in the upcoming issue of Faesthetic Magazine. (i think it gets released in september? i have to double check)
