the Root of it all

a couple weeks ago, Joel, Lisa, Pinky, and I took an impromptu trip down to Philly. Sometimes you just need a little vacay away. We stayed at Hotel Palomar (Pet friendly!) where they had one of the most amazing bathrooms. Seriously, it was amazing. Big jet bath tub, huge shower with a view over philly... sigh, i wish i was in it right now.

The trip was one big food adventure, we ate and drank and ate! (Check it out on numnum)

While walking around, we made sure to stop by Art in the Age, the company behind Root (this was one of our main reasons for going down to Philly)! Root isn't available everywhere yet, but you should try it. It tastes like Root Beer but full of alcohol. Its super good. Too bad for us, the liquor laws are all batty down there and when we went to buy a bottle on a Sunday the liquor store was CLOSED. wah wah.

Regardless the store is a really well curated store that supports artists and designers with high quality work, such as Rittenhouse, Wren, Lauren Moffatt. Check it out if you're ever in Philly, otherwise check out the online store.

Dust to Dust

Monica Canilao's Show is coming up at Cinders Gallery this Friday. I'm excited to see it, she does some amazing installation work. Here are some of her older pieces, you can see a sneak peek at her newer work here. I think it'll be more interesting to see in context of the installation.

c'est chic

Alternative Apparel is a great, well for lack of a better word, alternative to American Apparel. I won't go into the politics of it all, but mainly for the quality and feel of the fabric I prefer Alternative Apparel.

They recently launched their Spring 2010 lookbook that is extremely sexy without being overtly crass. ah-hem. Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Serge Gainsbourg look-a-likes...(have you heard of the new Gainsbourg biopic, more on that later.)

Love to Live

Have you heard "The Living Sisters?" if not you should, its the collaboration between Eleni Mandell (of her own fame), Becky Stark (of Lavendar Diamond), Inara George (of Bird and the Bee). Now, its a pretty saccharine sounding band so if you're not into that I won't suggest it for you. But if you do, you gotta listen to it. Eleni Mandell's voice is pretty awesome and I've been a fan for a long time...

I can go for that

I've got a guilty pleasure... and its all about Hall & Oates. I mean, seriously, its a definite pleasure. And when I heard that the Bird & Bee were doing a tribute album, I was ALL OVER THAT. Hall & Oates can get my toes wiggling and straight onto the dance floor. I can definitely go for that.
